🧾 About the Role
Planet designs and operates the world’s largest constellation of Earth imaging satellites, helping governments, researchers, and industries solve critical environmental, humanitarian, and security challenges. As Customer Success Manager for Japan, you’ll be the strategic partner guiding government and military clients in integrating Planet’s data into actionable solutions. Your role will directly influence adoption, satisfaction, and mission success for our Japanese stakeholders.

📋 What You’ll Own
• Build lasting relationships with military and government customers in Japan
• Support onboarding, training, and adoption of Planet’s imagery and GIS solutions
• Collaborate on account renewals, expansion, and upsell strategies
• Act as customer advocate—channel feedback into product improvements
• Coordinate with internal teams (sales, marketing, product) to deliver tailored support
• Monitor account health and manage internal reporting on customer status
• Identify connections between ministries to expand product use and impact
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and reports that enhance usage and value
🎯 Must-Have Traits & Experience
• 4+ years in customer success, account management, or related roles
• Experience supporting Japanese military or government accounts
• Fluency in Japanese (verbal and written); Proficient in English
• Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, or Earth observation tech
• Proven cross-functional collaboration with sales and technical teams
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
• Willingness to travel when necessary
💻 Remote Requirements
• Must reside and be authorized to work in Japan
• Strong home office setup and ability to work independently
• Availability for occasional travel and virtual meetings across time zones
💡 What Makes You Stand Out
• Deep understanding of Japanese government procurement and agency structures
• Familiarity with defense, intelligence, or emergency management initiatives
• Proficiency with GIS tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine
• Veteran or current military reserve experience in relevant roles
