📋 What You’ll Own
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance providers, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Generate patient invoices and follow up on outstanding balances
• Verify insurance eligibility and ensure all referrals/authorizations are in place
• Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes accurately per billing regulations
• Post payments and reconcile against accounts
• Investigate and appeal denials, addressing root causes
• Communicate with patients about billing questions and payment plans
• Maintain clean, up-to-date documentation for all billing activities
• Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• High school diploma required; billing/coding certification preferred
• 1+ year experience in medical billing (healthcare setting ideal)
• Proficiency in billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
• Strong grasp of medical terminology and insurance protocols
• Detail-oriented, organized, and efficient under pressure
• Effective communicator with patients, insurance reps, and providers
