🧾 About the Role
FWI is hiring a Web Designer / Developer to lead the digital presence for the NSF’s prestigious Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). You’ll manage full-stack development using Drupal CMS within AWS environments, ensure 508 accessibility compliance, and build responsive digital tools for a high-visibility federal program. This is a full-time remote role with occasional on-site meetings in Alexandria, VA.

📋 What You’ll Own
• Design, build, and maintain web applications for the GRFP program
• Manage and customize Drupal CMS on AWS
• Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards
• Create responsive, user-friendly interfaces for diverse public users
• Coordinate with program stakeholders including faculty, students, and staff
• Implement DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Respond to NSF requests within the same business day
• Document processes and maintain high standards of code quality and security
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 5+ years of full-stack web development experience
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side programming
• Strong experience with Drupal CMS and AWS deployments
• Demonstrated experience implementing Section 508 accessibility standards
• Familiarity working with large public-facing user bases
• Clear communication with academic and technical stakeholders
• Experience supporting federal agencies or programs
💡 Preferred Skills
• AWS cloud infrastructure experience
• Drupal certification or advanced Drupal development background
• Experience in scientific or educational web application projects
• Background in UI/UX principles
• Automated testing and QA experience
• Knowledge of web security standards in federal systems
💻 Remote Requirements
• Must be able to work 8am–5pm ET, M–F
• Available to attend periodic in-person meetings at NSF headquarters
