🧾 About the Role
The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Movement Communications Specialist (Events & Conferences) to support global events that bring Wikimedians together. This role will focus on coordinating logistics, supporting community-led events like Wikimania, managing communication strategy, and amplifying the voices of Wikimedia’s diverse global contributors.

This is a deeply collaborative position for someone passionate about storytelling, relationship-building, and strategic event planning—particularly in volunteer-driven, global environments.


📋 What You’ll Own
• Support and coordinate community events and global conferences
• Build strong relationships with regional organizers and community leaders
• Help shape inclusive messaging aligned with Wikimedia’s mission
• Oversee logistics, documentation, reporting, and vendor coordination
• Develop templates, FAQs, and best practices for future events
• Monitor movement channels, respond to inquiries, and share updates
• Support pre-, during-, and post-event data collection and analysis
• Ensure cultural relevance, accessibility, and alignment with community values


🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 3+ years of global event planning or communications experience
• Excellent written, verbal, and cross-cultural communication skills
• Comfortable juggling deadlines, shifting time zones, and weekend work
