Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, is hiring a Visual Designer to help evolve its brand identity and design systems across digital platforms. You’ll join a global, fully distributed design team shaping intuitive, impactful user experiences that touch millions.
âś… Position Highlights
• Full-time, remote role (must be based in EMEA)
• Design across brand, product UI, and marketing materials
• Work in a central team with other high-level visual and UX designers
• Contribute to open-source storytelling through thoughtful visuals
• Travel up to 2 times per year for company meetups
📋 What You’ll Own
• Evolve Canonical’s brand and visual language
• Design assets for web, UI, events, and marketing
• Apply clean, accessible presentation to complex technical products
• Work across departments to ensure brand alignment
• Collaborate with content, UX, and engineering teams
• Ensure all design work reflects usability, performance, and accessibility standards
• Contribute to Canonical’s internal design documentation and guidelines
🎯 Must-Have Traits & Experience
• Undergraduate degree in design or a technical field—or a strong alternative background
• Outstanding academic and/or professional track record
• Strong portfolio showcasing clean, user-centered design
• Agency, company, or freelance experience across brand and digital design
• Fluent in English with clear communication and presentation skills
• Comfortable sharing feedback, collaborating remotely, and owning deadlines
• Strong work ethic, high standards, and attention to detail
• Comfortable traveling internationally up to twice per year
