Job Description

One of Crum & Forster’s fastest-growing divisions is looking for a Cash Specialist for our Cash Application Team. Must have general accounting and accounts receivables background and the ability to ensure that all collected insurance premium is applied within established timelines. Responsibilities

Cash Specialist

  • Assist Cash Team with researching and processing daily cash receipt details into the appropriate receivable system to the correct customer account and policy transaction.
  • Assist Cash Team in reconciling remittances to account receivable balances.
  • Assist Cash Team with unapplied cash application.
  • Review Unapplied/Unallocated reports on a regular basis to clear unapplied items.
  • Correct misapplied cash as needed.
  • Process cash transfers.
  • Daily/monthly cash balancing.
  • Assist Cash Team and Collector(s) with premium/commission discrepancies and overpayments/underpayments.
  • Data entry of payment requests into the check processing system.
  • Answer customer service phone calls and emails within established guidelines.

General Duties

  • Projects or duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Communicate any customer service issues to Manager.
  • Assists manager with updating and documenting workflow processes and changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one to three years accounts receivable and general accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and general accounting principles.
  • Property & Casualty experience preferred.
  • Proven ability and aptitude with the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as above average math skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • Associates degree preferred but not required.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls.
