Collections Administrator I
How you’ll make a difference?
Orthofix’s Collections Administrators work with third party payers to collect payment for our bone growth therapy devices.
What will be your Duties and Responsibilities?
- Timely completion of all corporate wide and departmental training.
- Understand and promote Compliance adherence.
- Demonstrate effective interactions with peers and managements; maintain effective communication lines/methods; engage management to help in solving problems as needed.
- Responsible for managing open aging balances for assigned Third Party Payers while meeting departmental goals.
- Responsible for managing and resolving assigned tasks in timely and effective manner through oracle and other systems and processes.
- Meet departmental quality, productivity standards on a consistent basis while consistently meeting team goals and metrics.
- Ensure timely and accurate follow up on open aging accounts
- Analyze patient’s medical file in conjunction with payer knowledge and guidelines to effectively pursue payment.
- Review and identify appropriate appeals needed to resolve denials from payers as part of account resolution.
- Complete collection calls and correspondence (fax / mail) as required to resolve aging balances.
- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding payment processes, authorization and payer issues.
- Verify and understand insurance benefits, policy types, and contract types (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) as needed to resolve account balances.
- Request authorization and/or retro-authorizations for patients as needed.
- Prepare accounts and submit secondary claims for billing to insurance.
- Review accounts for final adjudication documenting account per process that all collection efforts have been exhausted and recommend appropriate write off or reversal for approval.
- Knowledgeable of all work instructions, processes, guidelines and policies; engage team leadership as needed for additional training or questions.
- Share knowledge amongst peers and management; proactively suggest process improvements.
- Promote and exude a positive work environment.
- Regular attendance required.
What skills you’ll need?
- Basic understanding of ICD-10
- Basic understanding of medical and clinical terminology
- Strong teamwork behaviors while abiding by Orthofix code of conduct.
- Strong time management, organizational skills and written skills.
- Strong utilization of computer skills. Able to run various programs with ease.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and at moderate assignment volume while meeting all deadlines.
- Negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Detail oriented with emphasis on quality and timeliness.
- Strong work ethic supervision is minimal, yet assistance will be readily available as needed from AR leadership and senior collectors on team.
What skills and experience would be helpful?
- Some college preferred but will consider with proper experience.
- 1-2 years Medical collections experience preferred but willing to train.
