Job Summary
The Director of HR is both a strategic and hands-on collaborator that provides Human Resources support to both a core and a multi-location managed services staff. The position is critical in executing ASG people initiatives, providing great internal and external customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The Director of HR is a champion of culture change, a mentor and leader, coaching managers in the development of others, challenging the status quo, and offering creative solutions to business issues.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Anticipates and resolves litigation risks.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in HR department.
- Oversee daily workflow of HR department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing Human Resources.
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, business or HR major preferred. Master’s Degree in HR or MBA a plus.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential, or PHR Certification.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Ability to manage budgets.

- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and administrative practices related to those factors.
