About the Role

We’re looking for an energetic, self-motivated Enrollment Counselor to provide consultative support to prospective Outlier students across various channels. In this role, you will manage inbound and outbound touchpoints with students to learn about their academic goals, share information about Outlier’s larger credential programs (certificates and degrees), and work through specific questions and/or obstacles. Our ideal candidate is a skilled, empathetic communicator with strong problem-solving and organizational skills and a passion for Outlier’s mission of increasing access to affordable, high-quality education.

This role reports to the Director of Student Success Operations and is a remote, full-time position.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct inbound and outbound conversations with prospective students across various communication channels (live chat, SMS, email, phone, webinar) in support of company acquisition goals
  • Qualify students in your pipeline based on their academic goals and interests while conveying Outlier’s value proposition and responding to specific questions and/or obstacles
  • Maintain a high level of organization in a heavy multitasking environment – ensure your efforts and learnings are clearly documented, and your follow through with students is consistent and timely
  • Share and advocate for common student needs, priorities, and concerns with internal teams to help evolve Outlier’s packaging and positioning in the market
  • Maintain exceptional levels of customer service in your interactions, building trust and rapport with every student you engage
  • Exhibit a growth mindset – continuously look for ways to improve your workflow, communication, and/or Outlier’s available resources to prospective students
  • Become an expert on the Outlier student experience and product

Who You Are

  • 1+ years of experience in D2C sales, recruitment, or related function in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (tech / startup experience a MAJOR plus)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong phone presence with a knack for building rapport quickly and establishing trust
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work independently and raise your hand for help when needed
  • Excellent organization skills including prioritization, scheduling, and time management
  • Coachable, self-motivated, curious, and resilient with a desire to grow your career at a mission-driven company
  • Experience using CRM and/or ticketing software and outbound sales techniques (prospecting, cold calling, emailing, etc.)
