Manager, Technical Solutions Direct Sales

Opportunity
The Manager, Technical Solutions Direct Sales, is responsible for providing best in-class project specific engineered proposals and support to our direct Kohler customers alongside our KPS Engineered Solutions Managers in North America. The Manager is directly responsible for leading and developing a team in reviewing specifications and drawing packages from KPS customers and preparing pricing proposals and submittals that puts Kohler in the best position to meet and exceed our customers’ needs in the region and successfully grow the Energy business. Alongside providing the key deliverables, the Manager’s main responsibilities are to develop and maintain a strong talent organization by selecting, appointing, and developing people who embody the skills and drive that contribute to our global success. Cultivating the careers of the team and developing a culture of accountability is paramount to the success of this individual.
Specific Responsibilities
-Ensure success for Kohler in North America through all target accounts and projects (target projects will be updated and reviewed weekly); the individual has final accountability for the success or failure in a defined region and must be able to successfully work with and influence senior leaders for both target accounts, Kohler North America Data Center sales team and our channel partners
-Primary Responsibility is to Support direct sales teams (telecom, data center, government sales and other national accounts) by providing specification compliance reviews, proposal creation, generator sizing, and training to the sales engineers via Project Sales Engineering team.
-Proficient understanding of spec interpretation, generator sizing, and driving continuous improvement by consistently leading technical project work.
-Provide supervision and technical leadership in the day-to-day activities for the Project Sales Engineering team.
-Establish a strong and diverse team culture while continually developing team members in both technical and soft selling skills.
-Establish team metrics and performance targets to achieve overall business goals.
-Identify market trends and provide feedback to Marketing team.
-Identify, implement, and document procedural and process changes that will improve team efficiency, response time, consistency in processes and methods, and customer service.
-Establish collaborative relationships with internal peer-level stakeholders including direct Sales ESM’s, Procurement, Finance, Credit, Project Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and distribution partners, to achieve business goals.
-Maintain daily workflow tools, assuring quotation accuracy for all custom proposals, and maintaining centralized documentation leveraging and expanding tools as necessary.
Skills/Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (BSEE or BSME preferred) or equivalent on-site power application experience.
-Strong personal characteristics are mandatory in the areas of leadership, organization, technical aptitude, curious and pragmatic mind-set, communication, judgment, attitude, initiative, and follow-up.
-Experience in technical quoting, reading prints and working with product lines of technical complexity; prefer 10 plus years’ experience.
