What You’ll Do
• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Generate and send patient invoices, follow up on balances, and resolve billing discrepancies
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, including authorizations and referrals before services are rendered
• Assign medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) while ensuring coding compliance
• Post and reconcile payments from insurers and patients to the correct accounts
• Investigate and appeal denials and rejections, addressing root causes to reduce repeats
• Communicate with patients about billing questions, payment plans, and financial assistance options
• Maintain accurate records of claims, payments, and insurer communications
• Follow HIPAA and billing compliance standards to protect patient information
What You Need
• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical billing/coding certification preferred
• 1+ year of medical billing experience, ideally in a healthcare setting
• Strong medical terminology knowledge and familiarity with billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to multitask
• Professional written and verbal communication skills with patients, providers, and insurers
• Solid problem-solving skills and a process-improvement mindset
• Ability to collaborate across teams to resolve billing issues
