Schedule & Contract Details
- Remote, US-based (contract role)
- Minimum 20 hours per week
- Calls must be made during insurance carrier operating hours: 8 AM – 6 PM EST
- Compensation: $6.00 per verified claim (paid on a per-claim basis)
Responsibilities
- Contact insurance carriers to check on past-due accounts and secure payment of claims.
- Research and update the status of unpaid or denied claims.
- Resolve outstanding claims, including high-complexity charges, ensuring compliance with payer guidelines across multiple states.
- Prepare and submit claim appeals with proper supporting documentation.
- Accurately document all account activity in pMD’s software system.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards (expected to follow up on 7 encounters per hour, 175 per week).
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Prior collections or medical billing experience with a strong understanding of ICD-10, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated success communicating with payers to resolve claims.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer and word processing applications.
- Active subscription to Microsoft Word and access to a reliable printer with paper and toner.
- Must currently operate as a sole proprietor or be willing to register a business (W9 required per independent contractor guidelines).
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and physically located in the U.S.
