Responsibilities
- Review patient accounts to determine payer responsibility
- Follow up with insurers, patients, and health systems to resolve billing issues
- Analyze payer contracts and EOB/835 files for correct reimbursement
- Resolve payment variances, denials, and credits
- Update patient demographics and account notes accurately
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and data integrity
- Meet productivity and internal quality standards
- Escalate complex account issues when necessary
Requirements
- 2+ years of medical billing, insurance follow-up, or related experience
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s preferred)
- Familiarity with healthcare billing software, EOBs, and medical terminology
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a distraction-free home workspace
