You’ll work patient balances end-to-end, build payment plans, handle hardship support steps, and keep accounts moving while supporting cancer patients with clarity and respect.

What You’ll Do

  • Review and work aging reports daily, focusing on highest balances first
  • Monitor aging activity and make referrals/adjustments when specific actions are required
  • Generate and send patient statements as needed
  • Call patients to discuss account balances and resolve questions
  • Send letters for delinquent balances and work patient correspondence promptly
  • Interview and counsel patients on self-pay balances and insurance payment activity
  • Track and respond to inbound/outbound patient calls and return messages within 24 hours
  • Set up payment arrangements when requested and maintain payment plan inventory
  • Gather financial info to support patient assistance applications
  • Post discounts to uninsured patient accounts daily
  • Facilitate probate cases for deceased patients with estates
  • Flag bankruptcy accounts and adjust system settings to maintain compliance
  • Provide itemized statements upon request
  • Partner with Financial Counselors, Patient Advocates, and Insurance Collectors to resolve disputes and patient inquiries

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Patient collections experience (preferred)
  • Customer service or call center experience (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of billing and codes (HCPCS, CPT, ICD)
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional, empathetic phone presence
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening
  • Strong multitasking, organization, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Bilingual Spanish (required)
