Join the Messaging Experience Group at HubSpot to be a part of a team that builds essential infrastructure and reusable components to power messaging across all aspects of the HubSpot product. Our work is crucial, as we send billions of emails every month through our flagship email marketing product and by enabling customers to connect their personal inboxes to our CRM. In the past year, we have expanded our offerings to include support for WhatsApp and SMS, allowing users to stay connected to their customers through their preferred channels.
Sending messages at such a massive scale requires expertise and collaboration, so that you will work with many talented engineers, product managers, designers, and deliverability experts. Together, we strive to build a platform that our customers can trust.
Within the Messaging Experience Group, the Messaging Rendering team is responsible for creating a reliable rendering experience that helps customers manage and send great emails and sms with confidence.. We empower customers to be innovative and use Hubspots HUBL powered programmable contents to personalise email and sms with end customers data. This ensures that our customers can rely on us to handle every email/sms with the highest reliability, allowing them to focus more efficiently on building and maintaining valuable connections with their customers.
Our services need to do a lot of work very quickly, and we rely heavily on performant technologies to help achieve these goals. We write lots of micro-services, primarily with Java 11.
Our APIs are RESTful and use the Dropwizard framework. We take advantage of Kafka, Queues, Hadoop for processing large volumes of data.
This a Software Engineering role where around 70% of your time will be spent on hands on coding/developing software in Java. Key Expectations for Technical Lead I:
- A Tech Lead I is a player-coach responsible for leading a small team.
- They are recognized as high-performing engineers and think of themselves as makers and builders first.
- They collaborate with Product, Design, and other Tech Leads in their family to define and share relevant, compelling, and challenging goals for their team.
- They work across teams with other TLs to resolve cross-team issues.
- They proactively take ownership of their teams on-call health and product reliability and quality.
- They have an interest and opinion in the direction of the product. They do not defer this over to the PM or PD or others. Instead, they are an active member of the teams leadership triad, co-setting the direction for the team.
- They proactively look to grow the members of their team to enable them to take on harder and harder tasks.
- They are actively cultivating Software Engineers into Sr. Software Engineers and Sr. Software Engineers into future TLs and Staff Engineers, etc.
- They are evaluating the performance of their team members and providing them with the necessary coaching, guidance and learning opportunities to help them grow in their careers.
