As a Technical Service Engineer you will work independently (with support from other regional technical service engineers) as the key point of contact providing technical expertise and advice to customers across the region and has the opportunity to expand their proficiency to other CT technologies. You will be the technical face of the CT organisation, both liaising with customers remotely and travelling to meet with regional customers in person.
As a Technical Service Engineer you will make significant contribution to the initiation and development of new projects or services, will plan programmes of work and business change within the engineering function.
Your responsibilities:
- Providing technical service to customers through direct customer support. Building and maintaining effective partnerships with customers in an ethical and safe manner.
- Coaching and mentoring JM’s technical service engineers.
- Identifying and developing opportunities to demonstrate JM’s technical expertise to the wider markets / industry through conferences, papers, webinars etc.
- Serving as a trusted advisor for customers. Providing advice in areas important to the customer which may be outside of JM’s technology offering.
- Collaborating with the Technical Service teams to collect data and share learnings with the Process Engineering, R&D, and Market teams to optimize technology design and offer.
- Supporting R&D, Market, and Manufacturing teams on new product development. Providing technical and market information with a customer focus.
- Developing opportunities for the introduction of new products and new service offers to customers.
- Working with the Digital team to provide technical product input/ownership for current and future digital products.
Requirements for the role:
- Degree in a scientific/technical discipline e.g. Chemical Engineering.
- Background in catalysts, absorbents, chemicals and/or additives.
- Detailed knowledge of Generic plants.
- Generic plant design, operating experience – desirable
- Significant technical service experience.
- Strong understanding of customers’ business and production process
- Ability to drive change
- Experience defining best practice processes
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Capable of working independently to deliver business critical objectives
- Confident public speaker
- Proficient written and spoken English communication skills
Special factors:
- The role involves a significant amount of travel to customer premises, conferences, JM facilities, and other regions.
