Currently, we are recruiting for a Visitor Advocate to join our team. The Visitor Advocate is a facilitator and active researcher who uses evaluation thinking to both address the needs of visitors and inform the work of the Asian Art Museum. This positions leads museum-wide data collection and programmatic evaluation initiatives ensuring that initiatives meet or exceed the museum’s mission and strategic goals to enhance the visitor experience and incorporate community voices. Collaborates cross-departmentally and in a mutually collegial and professional manner. Ensures that initiatives follow the museum’s mission and strategic goals with focus on innovation and inclusivity.

The position regularly engages with staff, vendors, visitors, volunteers, members, and colleagues in a personable and respectful manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates and implements museum-wide strategy for data collection, analysis, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Manages visitor surveys.
  • Researches best practices and utilizes new and emerging technologies to increase and measure onsite and online visitor access, participation, and engagement.
  • Develops actionable data sets from research and evaluation to drive decision making processes.
  • Innovates data collection and evaluative methodology for in-gallery and online museum programmatic initiatives, managing partnerships, contractors and the production and implementation of new evaluative tools to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Trains and leads museum-wide staff to develop routine data collection and evaluation procedures to support grant funding, reporting, and programmatic excellence.
  • Trains the museum’s educators and front-line staff on research-based strategies and principles in visitor engagement to enhance inclusion and general visitor experience.
  • Innovates and implements a robust evaluative tool to assess walk-in visitor engagement and experience.
  • Leads visitor experience survey formulation, implementation, and analysis for the museum.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and one year of customer service-related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to adapt to the use of new technology and programs.
  • Ability to engage children, families, and caregivers in a welcoming, energetic, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Ability to be flexible and assimilate feedback from colleagues and participants.
  • Ability to successfully work independently as well as collaborate with others.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to actively listen to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate and not interrupt at inappropriate times.
  • Routine weekend availability is required with flexibility in additional days preferred.
